From June 4–7, the Class of 1991 took a break from our normal routines and returned to Cornell for our 35th Reunion. For four unforgettable days, we became students again. We embraced dorm living, walked familiar paths across campus, lingered over conversations with old friends (and new), stayed up far later than we should have, and rediscovered just how quickly the Hill felt like home again.

Once again, the Class of ’91 demonstrated what makes our class so special. An incredible 444 classmates returned to campus, shattering the previous attendance record for a 35th Reunion by more than 100 classmates! Even more remarkably, it marked the sixth consecutive in-person Reunion in which we set a new all-time attendance record—a feat no other Cornell class has ever accomplished. Better yet, 60 classmates were attending their very first Reunion, proving that it’s never too late to come back to the Hill. Everywhere you looked—crossing the Arts Quad, strolling through Collegetown, walking between events, or simply enjoying campus—there seemed to be another familiar face from the Class of ’91.

Our Reunion’s success reflected the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. Our sincere thanks go to Reunion chairs Jeff Weintraub, MD ’95, Bob Baca, and Jeannette Perez-Rossello, along with the many classmates who helped plan and organize the weekend over the past 13 months. A special shout-out goes to Bob for his extraordinary leadership of our affinity networking and outreach efforts, which extended far beyond the traditional Reunion playbook and helped reconnect classmates from across so many Cornell communities. We also celebrated an excellent 35th Reunion campaign, raising more than $20 million from 600+ donors, including 74 at the Tower Club level. Congratulations and thanks to campaign chairs Mark Cisz and Sharlyn Carter Musslewhite and their committee for an outstanding effort.

Mother Nature couldn’t have been more cooperative, treating us to four beautiful days of early June weather. Our headquarters at Court-Kay-Bauer served as a welcoming home base throughout the weekend. Whether stopping by for a snack, gathering under the tent, stopping by the lobby bar, or enjoying our evening ice cream socials, classmates found plenty of opportunities to reconnect between the many activities across campus. A highlight at our HQ tent featured exceptional wine tastings showcasing three Finger Lakes wineries, coordinated by classmate Kim Brown Bixler. Thursday night’s dinner also featured fresh sushi prepared by a live sushi chef, a fun and festive event.

Helping everything run so smoothly were our seven outstanding class clerks—current students who greeted classmates, answered countless questions, solved problems, and somehow managed to be everywhere at once. Their enthusiasm, professionalism, and friendly personalities quickly made them honorary members of the Class of ’91. Spending time with these exceptional students was another reminder that Cornell continues to attract some of the brightest and most engaging young people anywhere.

Sharing breakfast at the award-winning Morrison Dining Hall brought back fond memories of Noyes Dining, Okenshields, and RPU, although today’s dining experience is on an entirely different level. Morrison’s bright, food hall-style design and wide variety of made-to-order offerings showcased just how much the Cornell student experience has evolved. The breakfasts also provided one of Reunion’s unexpected pleasures: an opportunity to mingle with alumni from every generation. One morning, Kimberly Jordan Stone struck up a conversation while waiting in line with a member of the Class of 1966, and before long the two were exchanging stories about Cornell nearly three decades apart.

There truly was something for everyone throughout the weekend. Some classmates zipped across Beebe Lake or rappelled down Schoellkopf Crescent, while others attended Greek life receptions, explored the Cornell Botanic Gardens, browsed the Ithaca Farmers Market, revisited favorite spots in Collegetown, ran in the Reunion 5K, or enjoyed Cornelliana Night. Many enjoyed hearing fellow classmate, NBC News senior national correspondent, and co-anchor of NBC News Daily Kate Snow in conversation with the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, while Cheryl Strauss Einhorn discussed her new book, The Human Edge: Smarter Decisions in the Age of AI, exploring how human judgment and artificial intelligence can work together to improve decision-making.

The Arts Quad tent parties brought together alumni of all ages, creating the festive atmosphere that makes Reunion unlike any other alumni gathering. And for many classmates, the moments they will remember most weren’t part of the official schedule at all—they were the conversations with friends, the chance encounters across campus, and the opportunity to make new memories together.

Special thanks also go to the many classmates who arrived early to help prepare headquarters, including Dorine Colabella DiConti, Eric Rosario, Kim Brown Bixler, Susie Curtis Schneider, Robyn Lipsky Weintraub, Paul Hayre, Tim Vanini, Ruby Wang Pizzini, Jeff Lamontagne, Abbe Goldberg Groffman, Joe Marraccino, Kris Hurley Van Riper, and Eric Kossoff. Their hard work behind the scenes helped create such a welcoming home base throughout the weekend.

As always, Reunion ended way too soon. Sunday morning brought hugs, promises to stay in touch, and conversations that had many classmates already looking ahead to our 40th Reunion, June 5–8, 2031. If you were able to join us this year, thank you for helping make it such a memorable weekend. If you couldn’t make it this time, we hope to see you back on the Hill in 2031!
